Smart-Trap
The DET Smart-trap™ DPF combines elements of our passive DPF technologies with an active hydrocarbon injection system. This is an optimal product for engines with duty cycles that fail to meet the minimum temperature requirements for a solely passive regenerating system. The injection mechanism utilizes a state of the art computer controller (DET Smart-ECU™) which minimizes the fuel penalty by constantly monitoring the exhaust stream to maintain optimal regeneration temperatures. The DPF substrate material can be coated with a precious metal catalyst coating similar to our passive systems, but with lower precious metal content. The Smart-Traps™ contain an extra HC catalyst module located directly before the DPF brick which uses the injected DEF to raise temperatures in the can to levels that allow for regeneration.
